Stay at Cumberland Reserve

Kranz Hut
Perched on the hill and overlooking a spectacular view of the gorge, the Kranz Hut sleeps 2 (one double bed) with a covered verandah, a separate outdoor shower and private flushable loo.
There is no electricity; lights are solar, fridge is gas, and water is heated through a paraffin “donkey heater”.
Horseshoe Cottage
An open plan, 4-sleeper cottage (4 single beds that can be made into 2 super kings on request), situated on the banks of the Umgeni River. Fishing is allowed on a catch-and-release basis for guests.
There is no electricity, but a fully equipped kitchen with gas fridge, a bathroom, and water heated through a wood-chip burner.
Low-clearance vehicles are not suitable for the Horseshoe road.

Bush Camp
A sheltered and protected campsite on the Rietspruit. You have exclusive use of the site so you don’t have to share with strangers.
Suitable for up to 15 people.
There is no electricity. Hot water is from gas geysers and solar lights in the indoor ablutions with two showers, two flushable toilets, and a sink bay.


Rietspruit Campsite
Located next to the Rietspruit stream, and next to the smaller of two waterfalls on the reserve.
This large campsite is a birder's paradise.
Ample space on immaculate lawns and trails nearby.
Suitable for up to 15 people

Uzavolo Campsite
The bush escape that you've been dreaming about!
Exclusive use of the site means no sharing with strangers. Accommodates a maximum of 8 people.
There is an outdoor shower and a flushable loo, with no electricity. Hot water is through a wood-burner geyser. Perfect for smaller groups wanting that real "sit by the campfire and listen to Nightjars" experience.


Saligna Wild Campsite
This wild camp is for the more adventurous campers looking for an authentic, wild experience in nature.
Located close to the cliff edge with amazing views of the valley and river below, the camp features a screened outdoor bucket shower, a pit loo, a tap with running water, a fire pit, and level camping area.
High clearance vehicle required to access this campsite.
